 ISP blocks VPN connection
My ISP blocks any attempt to establish a VPN connection and I was wondering if there is a workaround for this or if there are alternatives? I am using Windows XP. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Answer Wiki:
Your problem is probably (99%+) related to ISP blocking encapsulation protocols (maybe because they would like there clients to pay for VPN outsourcing ;o). So, you are probably bound to some kind of VPN over TCP. In this case you can choose some SSL VPN solution. There are lots of software around, just google for "ssl vpn windows". You can try OpenVPN (http://openvpn.net), it has a working windows clone... BR and good luck, Petko

I am new to the field. (Still in school), and my CIS instructor told me the same thing. I tried using openVPN and cannot make a connection to my friend who is using a different ISP. He however, has no problem connecting to other VPN’s, and he is using the exact same setup and configuration. We are both using Ubuntu. Had the same problem trying to use the built in VPN connection after installing all the right protocols through synaptic. His works but mine doesn’t. Is it time for me to give my ISP a call and talk to the IT administrator there? Thanks to anyone who can help a newbie in the field.

You can use free BarbaTunnel, so no one can block your VPN connection. it redirect your VPN tunnel to Http tunnel or UDP tunnel.

very easy to install even for whom that does not know anything from netwrok.
