Wm, what are you making the 8500 print as? Also, I am not using PDT since it seems it makes the print take a long time.

These printers are attached directly to each pc, so I do not know if buying a print server would be the way we want to go.

Geojf3, that is really interesting. I have been able to make them work this way, by changing the printer to emulate a different printer and configuring the PCS to are print to that type of printer. Are you trying to use a PDT to print to the printer?
Also, like Rick stated, you can buy an inexpensive print server, connected to this printer and make it work. Let me try to get the name of a print server that used a while back. It was really unexpensive and I got it to work with the AS400s.

Oh printer configuration on the AS400... Oh yes I remember the headaches... But as soon as you get them to connect and work the way you want them to it just keeps on working.

Rick, would it be possible for this printer to emulate another HP printer model, lets say HP LaserJet II or HP Laserjet 4? If that is the case, then you should be able to configure the printer to work with the AS400.

I remember the good old TWINAX days. It used to be so simple to configure printers back then.

Hope this helps.
