iSeries V5R3 jobs ending on the hour
Details: a partition on iSeries 550, V5R3 level, connect jobs to the 400 through this WebService provided by the ASNA data gate product, and IIS is involved in some way. Problem: Jobs run fine for any length of time, 15 -20 45 - 50 minutes depending on when they are launched until the time on the iSeries hits the top of the hour. At the top of the hour, the jobs end and die off consistently, always at the top of the hour. Like something is resetting, or the resources are taken away, or something else is launching. Very little info to go on but just odd enough maybe someone has heard of or seen a similar issue or event involving the same kind of timeframe.

Answer Wiki:
Have you checked the job logs? Are you even creating job logs? Is there some dependency in the code on the time? I've never seen anything that just causes jobs to end on the hour, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.. Regards Mike

We use the ASNA DataGate and RPG.Net products, and have not run into this issue, as far as I know.

I wonder if the values for Idle Timeout in Minutes and Pool Connections in the DataGate database connection is influencing this? I regularly see these jobs start and end on the i, depending on what needs them and how frequently, and when they hit their timeout value.

Have you checked with ASNA on this, to see if they have some ideas on the cause?
