    He may be having formatting problems. I will often have to download to a CSV file or even a text file and then import that into Excel. Some times having to specify the deliminators because the programmer decided to use a delimiter that interferes with Excels ability to import data correctly . So you end up with all your data in one column, not very pretty. Another note, simple translation problems can often be resolved by making sure the "Convert CCSID 65535" box is checked under File then Properties in the Conversion Tab located in "General Options" section. In any case if the downloaded data is formatted correctly in the first place, you should have no trouble importing it directly in to Excel 2008.
