We have an iSeries and are running v5r2 (soon to upgrade to v5r3). I was told that on a new OS version we will be able to use more than 10 charaters for a user profile name. I've found information about lengthening passwords, but nothing about the profile names themselves. Was this person wrong? If not, at which version will that feature be available?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

We have version 5.3, but only 10 characters for the user profile.

A user profile is an object, thus its name is still limited to 10 characters and subjected to the OS/400 object naming rules. The password, as of V5R1, can be set to more than 10 characters (see the QPWDLVL system value).
