iSeries to iSeries remote outq not responding
We currently have to receive reports from a company abroad. They have set up a remote output queue on their system to send the reports to an existent remote queue on our system. We have opened up port 515 on our firewall to allow them LPD access. When running a trace on the firewall, we can see them coming in, but our system is not responding to them. In the QTCPIP joblog on our system, we get the message: TCP/IP connection to remote system nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn closed, reason code 2. 2 = TCP connection closed due to R2 retry threshold being run. On their system, they get the following message in the writer's joblog: No response from remote host system within open time-out... We are using FTP and TELNET between the 2 systems without any problems. We have several remote outq's that we use to transfer reports between our systems both internal and external, but this particular one seems not to be working. Any suggestions?

Answer Wiki:
Is your LPD daemon running and you're sure you have ample authority at output queue level for QTCP QMPTLPD . - STRHOSTSVR *LPD The IP connection msgs at new setting @ V5R2 are a nuisance. If you want to be rid of them, you can perform the following. CHGTCPA : TCP close connection message . . TCPCNNMSG *NONE
