 iSeries printing
I am sending print file using a output queue setup to a zebra printer but when looking at the status of the print file on the AS/400, it showing in the status filed a 1*. This is causing the printer to print two copies of the same print file. What could be causing this? Could it be the way that I have the output queue setup on the iSeries server?

Software/Hardware used:
Iseries server OS release V4r5m0 output queue set up on iseries server printing to a Zebra label printer.

Answer Wiki:
You are probably referring to the Total Pages column of the Work with Spooled Files display panel.  If an asterisk appears immediately after the Total Pages attrribute for a spool file, it means the size and content of each page can't be determined until the spool file prints.  If the device is an AFPDS, the system can't determine number of pages for you.

…it showing in the status filed a 1*.

The spooled file ‘status’ field should never show a ’1*’. Status should be like RDY, OPN, HLD, MSGW or similar values.

Where do you see “1*”? What is the command you use to see it? What is the title of the display?

Are you sure the 1* is under the status column ??Sounds more likely under the pages column and if that is the case you probably cannot view the spoolfile either.  Try looking at the spool attributes  with an 8 and see what the number of copies is defined as.
