We are running on V5R4 and attempting to mount (via NFS) an external file system (Data Domain 530) onto the iSeries. Even though on the surface it appears that the mount was successful; you cannot execute any type of read or write operation to the mount. After running a communications trace, it was determined that iSeries NFS was communicating via the UDP protocol. The Data Domain wants TCP. How do I force iSeries NFS to use the TCP protocol instead?

At V5R4, I’m not aware of a tcp option. At i 6.1, NFS was brought up to NFSv4 and uses tcp exclusively.
But V5R4 is getting a bit out of date. (Marketing ended a year ago, and its end-of-support date is next year.)

Thanks for the post Tom …
While researching this issue we found that at v6r1 NFS would support TCP. We will be upgrading to a new processor and OS (v6r1) at the end of Q1. I had my fingers-crossed hoping that the concept could be confirmed at our current release level before then.
