iSeries NetServer Support for Windows Network Neighborhood
I get iSeries NetServer Support for Windows Neighborhood work fine with OS/400 V5R1 by configuring NetServer through iSeries Navigator. However, the same operation does not work with OS/400 V4R2. Are there any PTFs that need to be applied? Your help is very much appreciated. Sincerely, OUMAROU

Answer Wiki:
I don't think V4R2 is supported any more, so if you aren't on the last cume you may be out of luck. If you're on maintenance why not just upgrade or see if IBM can send you the last cume. Who knows, maybe they'll just give it to you even if you aren't on maintenance, if you ask.

I would tend to agree with jaicee. What model are you running now? Do you have any opportunity for an OS Upgrade? Even V5R1 would help you more at this point, even if IBM doesn’t, someone out there probably has the last CUME.

What Windows operating system are you running? If you are running Windows XP, you won’t be able to connect back to V4R2. I agree with the other responders, try to upgrade the V4R2 system to at least V5R1 with all PTF’s.
Good luck!

Contary to other messages indicating you may not be able to connect to V4R2, you most certainly will be able to. Follow the instructions and use the commands shown in “Netserver Advantage” and you should be home free.

At our shop, we have an old V3R2 machine and a slightly newer V4R5 one. Run mutiple sessions to each machine from XP daily. Network neighborhood works fine on both.

Note: We use CA Express V5R1 on our XP and W98 machines.
