iSeries Navigator message monitor failing on endpoint system
After years of working very well, iSeries Nagivator (Ops Nav) refuses to monitor messags on an endpoint iSeries.  This is a recent development.  Its been working just fine on the endpoint in question for the last 3+ years.  The QYPSJSVR job log shows CPFB904 and CPFB905.  Both are running V5R4 and iSeries Nav is current.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I did find one IBM document on this topic that is several years old.  I followed its instructions but that did not fix the problem.

I'm guessing the doc you reviewed has a modified date of 4/11/08? http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas12cc7ec4a8333e0bd8625741700447bbc I had a similiar issue but don't recall the error code. I installed SI32972 but that didn't help so i stopped the monitor and created a new one and used that as a work around. The old monitor still doesn't work after installing SI35287.

Thank you for the suggestions, Whatis23. That PTF is not on our machine so it may be the solution. I hope to load the PTF shortly.

Are you having any trouble with iNav shutting down during the day? Mine is doing that since loading a PTF that fixed a problem with inventory collection.

No but when i loaded SI32972, iNav will freeze up on occasion after monitoring then SNDDST the error msg to email and cell. This happens perhaps 10% of the time to which IBM states there is no current fix. After loading SI35287, the percentage dropped to about 5%. No errors in the management central jobs on the iSeries.

This is still an open issue with IBM support in Rochester. As of the week of 10/05/2009, Rochester is working on a solution to iSeries Navigator message monitor failing (CPFB904).

I’ll post an update when more is known.

IBM authorized us to a beta release of PTF SI35535 which took care of the problem on our V5R4 machine. It might be generally available by now.
