<description>Current Unprotected % reach threshold value of maximum Unprotected % (not sys ASP%)

The 'Maximum unprotect' value is not a threshold. It is just the largest amount of temporary storage that was used since the last IPL. It tracks the largest amount of temporary storage used.

Every time the 'Current unprotect used' value gets bigger than the 'Maximum unprotect' value, the maximum is reset to show the new maximum that was reached.

<description>...any applications that use the RCLSTG command.

I assume "RCLSTG" is a typo. There should be no applications using RCLSTG.

<description>...touching the threshold value and coming back after some time.

Can you clarify that?

Are you saying that the 'Current unprotect used' is getting close to a threshold by itself? Or is '% system ASP used' reaching a threshold only because 'Current unprotect used' seems to be a high value?

What threshold is being approached? What value is showing for 'Current unprotect used' when it is high? How much DASD is in your system ASP? What is the '% system ASP used' value now?
