iSeries client access Copy to clipboard fails

Hi,

I have an intermittent problem with copy and past from client access for system i.

I can be happily using copy and paste from client access to word, or excell , then for some reason it just quits, and all I get is a beep.

To reinstate, I have to exit all the way out and kill the session, and kill the pcsws.exe process in task manager . 

Very frustrating ! If it was something I'm doing, then I would avoid doing it, but Ihaven't spotted the pattern yet.

Any clues ?

    No real help, but I ran into that same issue recently. A power user got this symptom and we couldn't find a clean way around it. My guess is it's something like the cut/paste space in Client Access is a different size than that in Windows so things get "lost" after you do a large volume. Easier (for my instance) to just have her start a fresh session rather than chase down the true cause. Mike

    Are you on the latest available release for 'Client Access' on that user's operating system? You should definitely upgrade and install any available service packs if not! I've seen many a time that updating fixed an odd issue or two.

    The version of the iSeries Access client can make major differences on appropriate versions of Windows. And recent iSeries Access service packs often make problems go away in all versions of the client. When I've seen clipboard problems, they've always been tied to some other software that was running concurrently. Sometimes it was MS Word in a different window, and sometimes other programs. (This was true when iSeries Access client configuration for clipboard was correct, of course. If the configuration is wrong or inappropriate, then it might not matter what else you do.) If an upgrade to the client or a recent service pack doesn't fix the issue, start reviewing what additional processes are running at the same time. Tom
