 iSeries backup encryption
Hi all. To comply with PCI DSS we have a need to encrypt any backups that are taken offsite. I was just wondering what options are available and whats the likely cost? We are running V5R4 of OS/400 on a partitioned 520 system and have an IBM TS3100 drive writing to Ultrium 3 media. Thanks in advance

Use BRMS .... you'll need Ultrium 4 media. Talk to your rep.

We went with nCipher encryption devices sitting in between our iSeries and the Ultrium2 drives. They did the job. It cost just as much as Ultrium4′s would have, but we didn’t get the increased speed or capacity we would have gotten with the Ultrium4 drives, just the encryption.
