Hi,

A Change Management Tool is used to keep track of changes to your software and to install the changes for you.

For example, you have development, test and production machines – you develop software on the development machine, which is then tested on the test machine and finally installed on your production machine – the change management tool will take the changes from development to test and eventually to production. If the change is then found to be incorrect, the change management tool can “back it out” to a previous version of the software.

Turnover is an example of a widely used CMT for the iSeries.

Regards,

Martin Gilbert.

A comprehensive Change Management Tool will allow you to track approval authorizations. Items such as who authorized the changes to be implemented into production, who approved the testing and which client authorized the final release. This 'backend' stuff is what I call a bacon-saver.

Hi, as probably your know any software component takes development time, and as you also know "time is money", this simple introduction tells you that you have to monitor and measure the process of development and deployment of these components, is not required a tool to do this, could do it with an Excel, but processes are compounded when you want to enforce certain practices. The cost of doing this manually is meaningful so it is recommended to use a series of programs to automate this process. The complexity of the tool is the need to maintain and control practices, standards, or controls that require. Best regards.
