Is your organization taking formal measures to plan for flu/pandemic situations?
Open IT ForumHas your organization taken any measures to plan for flu or a larger than normal remote staff this season? What are some of the things you're taking into account (VPN testing/upgrades, checking network security parameters for remote workers, etc.)?

My current organisation has acted during the last outbreak of Swine flu and Chicken Guniya.
The company did the following -
- sent out a mail throughout the org'n with details of the pandemic - symptoms, precautionary measures, etc - as obtained from the national organisations dealing with it., provide links for more info
- employees who had come into contact were - advised to stay home; allowed to work from remote;
- org units who had such affected empl were advised on actions to be taken.

However these are happening as a reaction. Many times there does not seem to be a policy and a continuous plan.

Since our organisation is a specialist hospital, we have lot of awareness programs going on, some lectures were organized targeting each department. Leaflets were printed and distributed to all employees. Most updates we done in our local intranet portal. Email and flyers were forwarded.

I’d be surprised if a lot organizations go very far with this given that many have yet to address even the basics of DR/BC.
