team a set of intel nic's in SLA or 802.3ad when the switch doesn't
support it, main concern is getting higher bandwith/throughput from the
server to the clients on GB network

It depends on the nic teaming software that you are using. Broadcom, for instance, has Smart Load Balancing which does not need 802.3ad.
