We have Kronos time clocks which uses twinax to communicate with the AS/400. Now we're moving everything to Ethernet and purchased Ethernet module/card for the time clocks but can’t get AS/400 to recognize them via IP Address. I don’t think there is a way to name the device on the time clock. I hope I explain my issue right! Thanks for your help! Thanks, jka

The *Autocfg may not pick this device up.
I don’t know if your timeclocks are configured for the AS400′s IP address as it’s destination.
If the AS400′s address isn’t assigned to the clock then the clock will require the AS400 to reach out and establish the connection. If that’s the case the *AUTOCFG isn’t going to pick these devices up.
You’ll need to get a valid device configuration for a time clock using a IP address.

If the clocks are assigned the AS400 address to initiate the connection then check the system value: QAUTOVRT maybe your over the virtual device limit.

I’ve worked with these clocks using ADP’s services. The clocks can be assigned names from the clock config screens. I recall ADP needing the clock name and IP address when adding to their AS400 system.

Can you get the configuration guide from Kronos? I searched online and couldn’t find anything useful.

Verify you can ping the new ip address first. The old devd is now invalid so you can delete that and if your connection is valid, autocfg should pick up the kronos device just as any other qpadev* and create it for you when you power it on.

You should provide OS version for the AS/400. This will help anyone who answers your question.
