is there a time limit when you ask for a domain release?
My current webmaster, registered my domain in the US under my name. Now after several years with him, and endless problems; we have decided to go with an other webmaster. Ihave asked for a release of the web site. Go daddy shows me that the domain in question is "pending the other registrar confirmation." I wanted to know my rights in this matter. 1. Do they have a time limit to release it? 2. what can i do to force them to do so? 3. If they refuse to can I proseed legally against them? Thanks!!!

Answer Wiki:
In my experience, it can take a week or so for this to complete. Do you have confirmation from the new webmaster that he has requested transfer to a new registrar? The old owner will have to confirm that they want to transfer the registration to a new domain registrar. I do not know your legal standing in this matter. You will need to have an attorney review your agreement with the hosting company and see if there is any recourse you can take.
