I believe you're referring to an upgrade path from MOM2005 to Operations Manager 2007? In essence our best practice in this area is to deploy Ops Mgr 2007 in parallel to MOM2005 (an Ops Mgr 2007 agent and MOM2005 agent can both reside on the same box) and transition your operations to Ops Mgr 2007 in a phased approach, (e.g., based upon different applications or workloads monitored). You can also look into offerings from partners like Silect (and their MP Studio product) to assist in your migration.
