I am dying to replace the Windows Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) service with a different (low or no cost) SMTP server. If not, then I'd love to be able to gain more control over the MS SMTP Server. I need to be able to watch the connections in and out in real time - hopefully to be able to determine if my server is compromised.
I am having to rebuild my SMTP server every few weeks because it gets bogged down and the queue gets bloated (2000+ e-mails waiting). I cannot find anything that positively says "I'm compromised" - so I really don't know how to secure it better so the problem doesn't happen again. I would like a fairly secure non-MS SMTP server replacement - or some really good sugestions.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide!!
