I am trying to define the service that MS Sharepoint "fits into". Inother words, one could say that weblogic offers a "hosting service" J2EE middleware offers answers to "messaging" services. Does Sharepoint offer an answer to "collaboration" services, "content managment" or something else?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

SharePoint would fall into both a collaboration tool as well as a content management tool. Depending on what other packages you purchase to go along with it it could fall into other categories as well.
