 Is server/application virtualization a solution here?
Data center operations, Sun Servers, Virtualization, Virtualization in 2010
The current architecture contains Sun servers with a 3DC (active, DR, replicate & backup) framework. Few applications hosted on main data center (say DC1) need to be virtualized and other DCs (say DC2 and DC3) also need to participate in server virtualization and use their resources for live traffic with minimal effect on BCP. The main issue is unutilized resources at backup sites and potential savings and speed of deployment (if that can be achieved) through virtualization. What would be the ideal solution for this? What are the features to check before you virtualize applications and servers? Is there any other way out?
