My earlier question on what is the best fit for my skill sets was answered as SAP PLM and SAP ABAP. I come with a physical asset management consulting background (not financial asset maangement). I'm interested in EAM (Enterprise Asset Management).
I am being advised locally that SAP FI is a good entry point into the world of SAP, especially since I want to be on the functional side rather than the technical side. I am being told that getting trained in SAP FI will help to orient and familiarize oneself with the SAP application. Later on one can receive training in EAM modules (PLM, PM, etc.).
I would like to know what the SAP Gurus on this forum think. I do not have any SAP background and wish to switch my career from asset management consulting to SAP functional consulting focusing on EAM.
Also, I would like to know your opinion (SAP Gurus) on what are my chances in the future with a skill set combo in ERPs like SAP and EAM and how should I progress towards building that skill set.
