I love it. Competition is great for innovation and that’s exactly what we’re seeing.
I’m a former iPhone 4 owner…now a Samsung Galaxy Note II owner and must say, WOW, what a difference in devices. Whenever I see my wife’s iPhone 4S it just seems so elementary – like a cute little toy that my old eyes can’t see.
I don’t necessarily think Samsung’s hardware is any better overall than Apple’s. But Apple better darn well have plans to build a bigger iPhone as that’s where things are heading.
As for software, Android is *much* better than iOS for so many people. Just look at the “new” features in iOS 7…it’s mostly items that Android has had for years. When I saw the release of all the great new features in OS X Mavericks back in June – some of which were present in Windows 95 and XP – it became clear to me that Apple is a bit behind the times.
I suspect it’s hard to turn such a massive corporate ship – especially when a significant part of your user base is young kids and octogenarians that need stuff dummed down. In Apple’s defense, though, iTunes is the most backwards and unintuitive program I’ve ever used…that was what originally turned me off of Apple. I’m sure it’s just my old brain and limited computer skills. But still…
