Is it possible to have 2 Active Directories on one network as an upgrade path ?
Our organisation have an AD on Win2000 and intend to upgrade to 2008. However, we also have quite a few legacy apps and servers and to replicate the environment in lab manager for testing is a huge undertaking. Is there a way we can have both ADs running and then test the AD2008 in the prod environment without affecting other users? The idea would be to slowly migrate users across and fixing issues as they arise. Some apps do need the AD, what is the best approach for this migration from 2000 to 2008 AD ? Thanks in advance..

Answer Wiki:
You can have a test Windows 2008 AD on the same subnet without issue. Unless your applications are using a specific version of the AD schema upgrading the schema and domain controllers from 2000 to 2008 shouldn't be an issue at all.
