Is it necessary to virus scan the IFS on the iSeries?
With all the virus scanning going on automatically on corporate desktops, in firewalls, etc, is it really necessary to also virus scan the IFS on the iSeries? What do you think? -- Debra Tart, associate editor, Search400.com

Answer Wiki:
Wouldn't it make sense to scan and clean (aka disinfect) a file once in a central location rather than several times in disparate locations? Also, the change date on the file might lead to confusion when several people have had to clean/disinfect the same file. Also, you're betting on everyone keeping their virus scanning signature files and scanning engines up-to-date rather than one central location. The trouble, time, and headaches of one virus/worm/etc sneaking through are well worth the cost of scanning the IFS.
