Is Google going to become a wireless Internet provider?
I read in USA Today that the FCC is going to auction off UHF airwaves. Has anyone heard anything about Google participating in the auction? Am I going to see some kind of adsense ad equivalent on my phone now? Is that the way things are headed?

Brighthand.com covered this at the end of July. Ed Hardy, the Editor in Chief, wrote: "The company is doing so because it thinks that, in the U.S., the portion of the wireless spectrum for mobile phones and data is controlled by too small a group of companies, leaving consumers with very few service providers from which to choose. "

No doubt Google will try to find a way to make tons of money on this, and you can bet ads will be coming to your phone very soon.

What do you think the ads will look like? Will they look like AdSense and only be attached as text messages? Or am I going to have to listen to an ad when I pick up my voicemail messages? Or will I get video ads (like TV commercials) when I launch my phone’s browser?
