IPv6 training/education
What sources would you recommend for training on IPv6. I'm not really interested in a router/firewall configuration course. I want training/education on the IPv6 protocol and addressing schema. I know I can go read lots of RFC's on it but that is rather dry and can be difficult to absorb. Do you know any good books/tutorials that have helped you understand this protocol? Thanks for your insights.

The Rocky Mountain IPv6 Summit is a great place for IPv6 training. My Q&A with the conference chair has information on where to go for v6 classes even if you're not in the mid-west: http://searchenterprisewan.techtarget.com/news/2240035029/Rocky-Mountain-IPv6-Summit-fosters-IPv6-training-and-other-conferences I hope that helps!

While I am biased to recommend IPv6 explained, I would suggest reading Silvia Hagen’s book, IPv6 Essentials, which has been translated into Chinese and Japanese (a good indicator that it’s worthy of global consumption).

Hi

You may wanna have a look at my book, it is also available as eBook. Many people in the last 10 years, since the first edition came out said it had reduced their learning curve substantially. It’s like all RFCs on the silver platter in human readable format. ;-)

For courses, we offer courses in public but also corporate trainings. So you may hire us for a corporate training or find a training center near you which would offer the class.

There are more and more people offering IPv6 classes. Since last year, there is an IPv6 Ready Gold Logo for Trainers and Courses. You may want to try to get a certified training.

What I suggest is for everybody that will have to deal with IPv6, to first make a very general overall training to understand the full protocol, before you start delving into more details on your topic, such as routing, security, client config, or IP address management.

Hope this helps, have fun and enjoy the ride
Silvia
