 IPsec VPN tunnel between Cisco 1841 and DLink DFL 300 drops intermittently

I have configured an IPsec VPN tunnel between Cisco 1841 and DFL 300. It works fine when the load is less, but starts dropping as the load on the tunnel increases. If I constantly ping the remote LAN, it pings for 2530 times again request times out for 3040 times, again reconnects automatically and the process is repeated. When I replace the Cisco end with a DLink DI804HV, the tunnel continues without any disruption. Can you please advice me. Thanks in advance

You are seeing the fact that sometimes Cisco gear does not fully interoperate with other devices very nicely. It sounds like the security association is breaking down for some reason and re-negotiation has to occur to bring the tunnel back online. Is the 1841 at the latest IOS? Can you snoop or debug the traffic and see if the SA drops and what it takes to re-establish?
