 ip address with port number mapping in routing table
Hi, All,

Is it possible to include the port number in the routing table to map with the domain name.
E.g. www10.hello.com ---> 123.123.123.123:80
www30.hello.com ---> 123.123.123.123:8080

Command and suggestion on mapping will be welcomed. Thanks.

Answer Wiki:
No. An IP route is a network layer entity. Ports are a transport layer (TCP/UDP) entity. The remapping you're looking to do can be accomplished by using a proxy or firewall capable of remapping at the transport layer. The implementation of that functionality depends on the platform and without that information it's impossible to provide you with a complete answer though I'm pretty sure that the Windows built-in firewall is not capable of transport layer remapping and the built-in firewalls for most Linux and *BSD systems can.

Just to tack on a minor detail (amigus covered things pretty thoroughly) there are firewall appliances that can also do the job. Checkpoint, Juniper, SonicWall, and others.
