Do you have control of the format of the word doc?

If you can design the word document to have the figure/data you want to always be in the same place (therefore the same cell in the imported data sheet), get it into excel and then link the 2 cells.

I update an excel sheet from a web page imported into the workbook, when it is opened, and select a currency figure from a cell in the imported page. this is done by entering an absolute sheet/cell ref in the target sheet. The sheet is automatically updated from the web when it is opened.

Some times it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I have no control over the imported content, so the figure I need is not always in the same cell each week. I still have to check it. It isn't more than 2 cells out either way.

You will have to change the links to reflect which week column it is entered into. My simple method doesn't do what you want, but it proves there is a way to import from a doc/web page, and automatically get data, providing it is in the same place each time.
