Interoperability of Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes/Domino
I'm an editor on SearchDomino and am asking this on behalf of "Frank." His company, an Outlook user, was acquired. The parent company is a Notes shop. The parent uses a hosted service for its Notes messaging architecture, and wants to eventually move everyone to Notes. Frank had no problems til a year ago, when his Outlook users, who were pulling their e-mail from the host?s Domino server and POP 3 account, started getting 550 errors. E-mail became very unreliable. When the hosting company upgraded to Domino 6.5, the problem got worse at first. Someone at the hosting service told Frank that Notes and Outlook don't work well together. Now Frank is having second thoughts about moving to Notes. He wants to know if it's true that Outlook and Notes don't work well together.

Answer Wiki:
Notes has Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook (DAMO) which is specifically designed for Domino on the back end, Outlook on the front end. He should check IBM's site (http://www-142.ibm.com/software/sw-lotus/products/product1.nsf/wdocs/accessmsoutlookhome) for more info. He can also search the Notes 6 & 7 forum (http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf) on the term "DAMO" to see some of the questions, problems, and answers regarding the product and how it works.
