I have been doing a little research on how to reduce the expense of watching what use to be free ..TV.....watching tv with commercials @ $80/ month is extreme I feel and I don't want be to on that wheel so, I am thinking of making a 1-time purchase of a modem ($100) from FREEDOMPOP and monthly service @ $18/m for 10gb/12mbps, that takes care of internet and as for TV, make a 1-time purchase of a $100 for a device called Roku, or Amazon Fire for streaming TV. Is this worth the time and trouble or just be like everyone else and pay over a $1000.00/ yr to use internet and watch TV?

Depend on how much you watch. I avg about 10 hours a week. I would cut the cord by my wife watches a lot more. It also depends is the shows you want are available for streaming. I do know a bunch who have dropped cable / satellite and went the streaming route. They are happy.
