What is the relation between an AS and wireless home-base internet router. Do you always get the same AS while browsing to different website?     As I understand things (which isn't much), the ASNs more likely be the same closer to the start of the route and can be the same along the entire route. As the route passes into different internetworks, the ASN should change to indicate passing through edge routers. I would expect edge routers to have the same ASNs for each internetwork, but that's from limited understanding. Across the internet, ASNs are rarely meaningful to you. -- Tom

    ASNs are allocated to ISPs. Small ones will only have one, large ones could have several if they operate different networks. Your local ISP will most likely use the same ASN every time you connect, as you connect to the same network. The remote website that you browse to will usually have the same ASN each time, but likely not the same one as yourself. If they are a large website, then they will likely have more than one service provider, so could have differnet ASNs each time you connect.However, as Tom says, these are largely meaningless to you, in the same way that you don't need to know how many, or what companies, a letter from another country passes through to reache you, you just need to know it arrives.
