Internet access restriction via GPO
I need to restrict internet access in a particular department in my organsation and i need a way by i cld do that using Group Policy

If you mean prevent internet access:
User settings|windows settings|internet explorer maintenance\connections. Define the proxy and send it to a nonexistant server/port. Define a group that this GPO will apply to and then add the selected users to the group

You may want to consider having a block of IP addresses internet restricted which you can assign and confirm through DHCP. This is another option if you are not in favor of the GPO way.
