What type of internal chat client can we deploy on our intranet for employees to use when they are connected to our network? I'd love suggestions. All I know of is OCS.

Ramsey- We use <a href="http://messenger.softros.com/">SoftrosLANmessenger One cool thing is that you can also share files of any size across the intranet. It is quick and easy to setup. Licenses are like $10 a pop and the Server Admin Plateform is not too expensive.

This depends on features you would like to get with your IM. I mean offline messaging, message archive, file transfer, etc. What about an authentication options? I advise you to look over client/server IM software because it will never busy your LAN like a serverless software does. If you want to compare something new with OCS system try Bopup IM software.
