First off, thanks heaps. I've been seeing an intermittent failure of my Exchange 2k3 box to successfully complete its full backup job with the following Event error: The backup has stopped with error -521 and, in the backup log, "First Storage Group is not a valid drive or you do not have access".
I'm only backing up Exchange data using NT Backup, no virus app is currently installed (only while t/s)and I'm logging in as the domain admin for this one. The backup job seems to fail anytime from 10 minutes after start to 2+ hours into it with no apparent rhyme or reason....
Any help or tips would be most appreciated. Its growing very old babysitting what once was a perfectly performing scheduled job.....sigh.
Thanks heaps,
y

I have EX23 and Ntbackup. HAd problems initially.
U may want to do an offline integrity check and defrag. Tidy up the DB. But see if u can do it on a test server first so u don’t corrupt the DB!
Next make sure u separate the EXDB backup from the windows system state. I still have some issues with the system state not backing up and have to run that manually in the mornings sometimes. I also backup the BKF to disk first which is later pulled to tape as part of the nightly tape backups.
