On one of my computers I get intermittent connections to Web Based I Notes 8.5.  It will login and go to my account but 50 % of the time it will hang and not access my page.  I can see my In Box but it will hang the Exployer Window.  This is happening only on my WIN 98 computer.  The XP is fine.

It is having issues with the browser because the browser is too old and not supported any longer. XP's browser is still being supported but that is problematical as to how long the browser will be supported. Due to one of the more recent sets viruses / malware / ransomware exploits in IE Microsoft determined that the patch to fix the issue had to extend all the way back to the browsers in XP so they issues the patch to fix issues in IE all the way back to XP., but no further. I suspect there will be no further patches issued though, and you will definitely need to upgrade to a newer O/S.

Although this question is more than 5 years back. Microsoft stopped support for windows 98 in the year 2004, while for XP in the year 2014. Assuming there is no update available for 98 and that's why lotus notes created problems. But you got updates from Windows XP till then. Might be this the reason that you faced problems on windows 98. You can update the system in XP or for this current scenario, you can update to windows 7 also.
