 Intelligent Messaging Filter (an oxymoron?)
I'm continually frustrated by the fact that, when an update to IMF comes along, I have to manually copy my Custom Weighting file into the new IMF folder that gets created. Why the dumb thing can't look one directory up into MSCFV2, I don't know. Has anyone come across or devised a way to deal with this? Currently, I decline IMF updates in WSUS (it gives me a heads up that an update is around). I decline it because I can't control the specific update timing finely enough. Then I run Microsoft Update on the Exchange server and install from there. I copy my Weights file into the new IMF folder as soon as it is created. Finally I stop and restart the SMTP service. Surely there is a better way??? TIA,

Answer Wiki:
The requirement to copy the Custom Weighting file (MSExchange.UceContentFilter.xml) to each new sub-folder created by IMF updates in the ExchsrvrBinMSCFV2 folder has proven to be a big nuisance. There's little incentive for Microsoft to fix an older version of Exchange Server, now that Exchange Server 2007 SP1 has been released. The only way out is to have the file copied to each new folder by a script, and schedule the script to run daily.
