I want to setup in internal Instant messaging system on a LAN using windows 2003 server? Is this possible?

Server 2003 alone does not have an instant messenger service, no. There is Office Communications Server which will provide this service for you, but of course it does cost money.

    You should download any LAN messenger, make searc h in google, for example first one: Softros LAN messenger most of these tools have free trial and don't require a server.
