installing printer on vm server 2003

Trying to add a printer(xerox phaser 6110mfp)to the AD(vm exsi 4) but it keeps on coming up with error message "USB Device is not available...." whenever I try to install the printer driver. PLZ I NEED ASSISTANCE

Software/Hardware used:
host os is linux and guest os is server 2003

This is a virtual server correct? What software hosts the server? (VMWare..XenCenter, ect) where are you getting the printer driver from? is it from the manufactures website?

    yes its a server 2003 as guest os on VM exsi 4 and yesthe printer driver was downloaded from the manufacturer's site..pls i need HELP asap

    Is the printer networked or USB ? If USB, is USB enabled for this guest ? Actually I thought ESX 4i did not support guest access to USB.

    As Greybeard52 pointed out, guest OS's access to USB isn't supported to my knowledge either. I've accomplished exactly what you wanted to do with network printers on a VM guest running Win2003 without issue. We've got about 10 different Xerox models working fine this way.
