I'm working on a Dell PowerEdge-2800 server running on Windows 2000 Server. At present there are 2 partitions C: for system & D: (600GB) for data on a PERC 4e/Di card configured as Raid-5.
We are planning to install a PERC-5e card with Dell MD1000 external storage having two virtual disks of 1.8TB each configured in Raid-5. Our goal is to expand the existing data disk D: from 600GB to 4.2TB.
Is it possible to do this, since the disks are on different controllers? If it is possible, is there a risk of data loss during expansion? Any advice would be highly appreciated.
