 install Windows XP
How do I install WinXP from a CD-onto a clean formatted HD in my machine.It will not install under DOS using a Dos boot floppy unlike Win98. Do I need some other form of boot disk.

Software/Hardware used:
Dell Intel pentium

Answer Wiki:
The Windows XP CD is a bootable CD. Just put the CD in and boot the computer up. You may need to tell the computer in the BIOS that it can boot off of the CD device. Once that is done you should be prompted with a message which says "Press any key to boot from CD..." (or something similar). Please any key (the space bar for example) and it will start the installation process.

Despite the BIOS being set to boot from
1 ” A” floppy
2 CD Rom
3 USB
It would not run the Win XP disk until I deleted 1 and 3 and just left the CD
Then OK
