Install SQL Server Client Components on Windows XP
I use my SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition disk to install client components on my Windows XP. I insert the CD into the drive. I click SQL Server 2000 Components on the first screen. I click Install Database Server on the next screen. An InstallShield icon appears for a few seconds and then nothing. I check Windows Task Manager and see that sqlstp.ejxe and setupsql.exe are running. I am expecting to see a welcome screen where I select client component installation. This never appears. Any advise as to what I am doing wrong?

Make sure that any anti-virus/anti spyware is disabled before installing. You might also want to run a program such as <a href="http://www.ccleaner.com/">ccleaner</a> before an install. Good Luck! -Flame *************************** There are a bunch of batch files on the root of the CD. Run the one that is sqlcli.bat. This will do an unattended install of the Client tools.
