“Connect” through which protocols? You may need to know about that in order to get best service. Will both machines be connected for the same usages? Or will they be different? For example, will one machine be connected through a browser and the other be connected for e-mail (or telnet or FTP or whatever)?

If there are two distinctly different uses, a single IP address might be all that’s needed. There are a lot of possibilities, and the way an ISP provides services and provides customer support can vary widely — especially in quality of customer service.

Be very clear on what you want in provided service.

Thx Tom for a reply with help. A Couple because they only have 5 workstations and one server and only want to connect to two machines period. No need to connect to any more. I know that most ISPs give plans that provide 4-5 static IPs and that is twice as much as needed. It’s not some super business needing all kinds of connections and speed.

Why “a couple”? And what protocols will be used from the outside coming in?

There are hundreds of possible ISPs around your area. This gives a list of 313 possibles for Irvine Internet Service Providers ISP. Change the city on the search page to get closer to your specific address.

Then start calling the listed numbers. For business service, you’ll want to be very specific about exactly what you need and what you don’t want. You might need to talk with a couple of them just to learn what questions you need to ask and what answers to give for their questions.

Not looking for any hosting. This very small business (5 computers – 1 server) with firewall just wants a couple of static IP addresses to connect remotely to. Normal basic internet speeds is all that is required. In Orange County, CA.

It is, but you asked about an “ISP”, in particular an inexpensive one. An ISP will have a country, and usually a region, that they service. Your region might suggest an appropriate ISP from someone with experience in that region. It would n’t help you in the slightest if I suggested the local ISP where I live.
