Based on the experts experience, I would like to request your advice on
certification concept. I am in to networking since 3 years. i worked in
Aruba WLAN solution and now I am in Alkhobar working on IBM/netcool
NMS.
I have done my certification in Aruba. I would like to ask whether I
need to move on with doing certifications on the products we work on.
Since I feel based on my experience, that people concentrate on
certifications, study to get it passed but lack the knowledge. However,
when it comes for the differentiation in the market, people with
certification are more credited than the people who do not have
certification. But the fact that many such people who just have
certification do not have the real knowledge is known by only some
people.
So, Based on your experience, I would like to have your view on this
whether I should go ahead and concentrate on doing certification on the
field/product we are working on or just concentrate on the real time
exposures.
Your kind advice is highly appreciated.
Thanks,

You’re only going to get what you put in. Certifications are not THE answer to moving ahead in IT. There’s so much more to the equation like what I talk about here and here.
