Imagistics 3512 DEVD iSeries Printer problem CPF3397
iSeries printing, Imagistics IM 3512, Pitney Bowes, TCP/IP printing, iSeries error messages, *IBMSNMPDRV, HPPJLDRV, Printer drivers, AS/400 printer drivers
Hi I'm having trouble with a few Imagistics 3512 printers connected to a I series via IP
The printers are in the US and the I series is in the UK

They print correctly but are plagued with the printer ending abormaly. These then have to be restarted over and over again!!

Does any body have a working DEVD that I could compare?

The error message is Message ID . . . . . . : CPF3397
Checking the joblog there not much help in their

As we have hundreds and hundreds of printers and the problem printers are the same make at different US sites I'm ruling out network problems.

I have tried changing the devd *HPPJLDRV to *IBMSNMPDRV and a few other things but not much changed, printers still end. Looked at the time out settings on the printer and these look to be set to 0

Hi,

Maybe it's worth changing the inactivity timer from *SEC15 to *NOMAX

Have you checked WRKPRB to see if you have a problem that you can analyse for one of these printers?

Nothing in the Work problem for these errors. I have changed the *SEC15 to *NOMAX in the DEVD, no harm in trying this. Will check the overnight logs to see whats occured.

Hi there no not the same person, I’ve just updated profile.
Checked the printers joblog and getting CPD337C error, although the printer has not ended overnight which is an improvment.
Waiting for the view of the users

you may want to check the Remote Printer Queue (RMTPRTQ) setting in the outq description….for Imagistics printers it would be either ‘PORT1′ or ‘print’
I had similar problems with a Sharp printer and that took care of it,

Thanks for the input Ann.
Would changing that setting make a difference with the printer being set up as a DEVD type?. I suppose I could try and create another config as a Remote output queue and go down that route. I usually have printers either DEVD or Remote outqs with Dummy DEVDs if needed.

We create an outq first and then create the DEVD — The setting is in the outq…this example has ‘raw’ in it.

I have created a separate remote outq for testing, the job log shows lots of messages TCP342F

Remote host system closed connection unexpectedly.
Send request failed for spooled file QSYSPRT.

Spooled file QSYSPRT sent.
Ownership of object LPR_SPACE in QTEMP type *USRSPC changed.

Also the files can stay in the queue in a SND state for 30 - 60 mins before printing.
While a print released from the DEVD queue will print off during this period immediately
