My company is about to start using Symantec Ghost to image several computers (hundreds). What are the requirements for the Server? What other softrware is needed?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Hello Tiffany,
first you have to consider a huge amount of disk space because if you are taking full images this means that the image file will be some GBs for each computer; second you need to check if the client computers have WakeOnLan capable network interface cards because when Symantec Ghost tries and boot the computers for scheduled images the client computers must be WOL capable.
The server, except the huge amount of disk space doesn’t have high profile requirements.
Bye

Be aware that pushing an image to multiple systems (multicast imaging) at the same time WILL bog down any production network if being done "in place" so to speak. Usually, you can push 4 - 5 at the same time before any network traffic (including the imaging process) slows to an unusable rate. your best bet would be to either phase in the new images so that the reimaging could be done i waves or to pre-image systems on a LAN which is not part of your production network.
