I’m trying to connect to AS/400 using .NET

I'm looking to build a .NET web application using SQL (to query an AS/400 database). This is actually my first time I'm working with AS/400.

What do I have to install on my machine in order to connect? Is it IBM iSeries Access for Windows?

What are the components of the connection string? Any help to start would be greatly appreciated.

    You don't quite need "iSeries Access", but you would need the IBM i Access for Windows .NET provider at least. Review IBM's description first, then post back here if you need specific details. -- Tom

    You can check to see if you have it installed by adding the reference to your project.

    Right click project, add reference then under .net look for something like "IBM DB2 for I .NET Provider" .

    Then make sure you have in the imports.

    Imports IBM.Data.DB2.iSeries

    Then set up your connection

            Dim strConnection As String = "DataSource=10.10.10.10;userid=MYID;password=MYPWD;DefaultCollection=MYDATALIB;"

            Dim myConnection As New iDB2Connection(strConnection)
            Dim myCommand As New iDB2Command(mySQL, myConnection)
            myCommand.Connection.Open()

            Dim myReader As iDB2DataReader
