With V6R1 a new type of UDFS (user defined file system) was released. The purpose is for apps which stores temporary data on the system. A claimed performance increase of 70+ percent makes this very interesting. Someone pls hint me where to read more about how to implement and use this new functionality.

ok, I have no idea why it thinks I answered. I was merely trying to add this to my watchlist.
I think it simply shows your icon when YOU view the page. For me, it currently shows… me.
Anyway, I’m not yet adding this to my watchlist because I haven’t heard anything similar to what the question seems to be asking and nothing similar showed up in any searches that I did.
Maybe DanTheDane could supply a link to a comment or rumor from somewhere…?

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard this. But I don’t remember where it was before. I’m going to search.
My knowledge is from my own notes taken from a presentation done by IBM with the october 20th ’09 announcement. From my notes I also read “mounted !”. This made me investigate to some extend, and I now believe that this functionality is made available through a “User Defined File System” – see cmd CRTUDFS. Maybe I am wrong …
Any new thoughts on my original question ?
GO CMDUDFS and read the help on the commands. Unfortunately, this is only the create, delete, mount and unmount commands for the UDFS.
Found some interesting information on the UDFS here.
Regards
Mike
Quite a busy presentation you found Mike – very good stuf to learn from. I will study the 100+ slides carefully . Still I hope for some quickly read ‘getting started’ on my original question.
Nice find!
Looks like interesting times ahead for at least some of us. I was particularly interested in a couple comments, e.g.:
In turn, this will cause the RCLSTG command to
fail. The file system will remain mounted and usable.
Hmmm… still “usable”? By what jobs?
